The Price family began in the natural foods industry in the early 70s before “health food” was even a thing. They started with a restaurant, bakery, and store in Stockton, California. “We served fresh baked organic cheesecakes and a burger called the Oasis Burger.” From there, they opened more restaurants and health food stores in Stockton and Sacramento. After years as restaurateurs and store owners, they decided to sell all of the businesses and pursue their dream of living in Amador County to raise their children and continue sharing their passion for health and wellness.

On May 1,1989, Gold Trail Natural Foods opened its doors. It is the only natural food store of its kind in Amador County and is both a grocery and nutrition store. “Gold Trail is for everyone, whether you want to pop in for a snack or a kombucha on tap, you are an athlete, or you are someone intently focused on wellness and want organic or specialty foods, herbs, and nutritional supplements. We have something for everybody.”

The legacy is being carried on by Marvin Price’s two daughters, Brianne and Maud, who are now running the business and overseeing the day-to-day operations. Both athletes, Brianne and Maud are passionate about the health industry. “It is exciting to see my daughters, who grew up in the health food store and love Amador County, come back after college and careers to take over the family business. This is a family-run store and always has been. We are grateful to be able to serve our community who has supported us for so long and hold space for anyone who desires to benefit from what we offer.”

Gold Trail prides themselves on offering seasonal organic produce, environmentally-friendly products, specialty grocery items, the highest quality nutritional supplements, and unique gifts. They are a community-based business with a knowledgeable staff who can provide customers with expertise and support on the various herbal, holistic, and natural products they offer.

The founding principal that has guided the success at Gold trail is:

“If we don’t have something you want or need, just let us know – we will do our best to find it and special order it for you.”
